Kimberly Hughes

Town Council
Title: Councillor

Kimberly Hughes is a fourth generation Slave Lake resident and co-owner of the local independent business, Distractions for over ten years. She brings advanced insight gleaned through five years of serving in executive roles within the Slave Lake Chamber of Commerce, as well as a member of the Community Futures Board and the Regional Tourism Society.

Kim feels that it is her responsibility to give back to our community in any way she can. She has always known that if something needs to be improved, it’s not enough to talk about it or hand the responsibility to someone else. To her, these teachings generated a deep commitment to volunteerism and fair leadership. As a business owner, community leader, and mother, she is committed to serving Slave Lake.

In her spare time Kim enjoys relaxing with a good book or spending time with her family enjoying the many outdoor opportunities our region has to offer.

It is truly an honor to represent Slave Lake and to play a role in making a difference in the lives of my neighbors and community members.

Councillor Hughes sits on the following boards:

Inter-Municipal Committee
Municipal Planning Commission
Slave Lake Airport Commission (Alternate)
Slave Lake Library Board
Peace Library System
Emergency Management Services
Community Education Committee
Lesser Slave Lake Regional Tourism Society

Councillor Hughes will be Deputy Mayor from November 1st, 2023 to June 30th, 2024
