FireSmart Home Assessment

A FireSmart Home Assessment is a voluntary, on-site property assessment designed to identify wildfire risks and provide practical recommendations to help reduce the likelihood of home ignition during a wildfire.

Home assessments in the Municipal District of Lesser Slave River No. 124 and the Town of Slave Lake are provided free of charge and are conducted by trained FireSmart professionals. Assessment results are confidential and shared only with the property owner or resident for their information and planning mitigation actions for their property.

During the assessment, the assessor will review key features within the Home Ignition Zone to identify wildfire hazards and opportunities for risk reduction. Following the assessment, residents will receive a summary of recommended actions that can be used to plan and prioritize mitigation work.

Residents can request a FireSmart Home Assessment by completing the FireSmart Home Assessment Form (Link): https://www.slavelake.ca/FormCenter/Lesser-Slave-Regional-Fire-Services-28/Home-Assessment-Form-237.

Instructions: Fill out the application form and submit it to request an appointment to have your house or property assessed. The assessment will provide you with wildland fire mitigation recommendations. Applicant must either be a resident or owner of the property and must be available to attend the assessment with the assessor.
