Shawn Gramlich moved to Slave Lake with his family in 1990 at the age of five. Having grown up here he considers himself fortunate to be able to raise his family the same way he was brought up, with small town values.
The luxury of Small town amenities are also valued by Shawn. “The ability to be on the lake, golf course or camping within ten minutes from my home is a huge bonus to living here- I believe we often take these things for granted”.
Volunteering has always been a focal point to Shawn’s life. “So many people made things possible for my generation growing up in Slave Lake, I feel it is important to give back if we have the ability” In 2014 Shawn created Ice Breaker Hockey which not only has raised over $250,000 for various community causes and charities but also has created a sense of community pride and an annual event to look forward to.
Shawn’s day job has him overseeing an oilfield rental company and he believes we are on the verge of an economic boom. “There is no better time than now to help promote our region, I want to use my experience, my connections and my knowledge to continue to serve Slave Lake and build a stronger community for all of us. A community where everyone should be able to thrive and where everyone should feel that they're part of it”
In his downtime, Shawn enjoys spending his time with friends and family and is an avid hockey fan, specifically the Edmonton Oilers.
