[ARCHIVED] Slave Lake RCMP Weekly Update – April 1st to April 6th, 2020

RCMP News Release (Summer)

Slave Lake, AB – During the week of April 1st – 6th the Slave Lake RCMP received fifty eight (58) calls to service.  Of these calls, mischiefs, assaults, and traffic  occurrences were the most prevalent.  The following are a sample of some of these calls: 

April 3rd, 2020 - Welfare Check

The RCMP received a report that a female was standing on the complainant’s driveway, not dressed for the weather. Members attended and located the female. Checks were completed on the female who had multiple warrants for her arrest and several court ordered conditions she was to abide by.  The female was arrested and searched where a knife was found to be in her possession. She is scheduled to appear in court June 2020.

April 4th, 2020 - Mischief

The RCMP received a report of a car alarm activated in the Thompson Landing parking lot. Members arrived and found the vehicle in question. A female exited the vehicle and began to flee the scene. The RCMP pursued the suspect who was apprehended and arrested approximately 300 metres away. She is scheduled to appear in court June 2020. 

April 4th, 2020 – Public Mischief

The RCMP received a report that a child was kidnapped from the complainant’s residence. Members attended and entered the residence where the child was found safe and sleeping in his room. The complainant was highly intoxicated and another sober guardian was located in the home sleeping as well. The complainant was warned about making false police reports.

April 5th, 2020 – Public Mischief

The RCMP received a report of a male calling 911 approximately 12 times from the detachment area. Members responded and located an intoxicated male attempting to gain entry into the detachment. The male was arrested and lodged until sober. Before being released, he was charged and is scheduled to appear in court June 2020. 


Public health and isolation orders have been issued across the province under the Public Health Act. There is now a reporting tool the community can utilize to report persons not abiding by the orders issued.
