The Town of Slave Lake and the Lesser Slave Regional Fire Service understand the Province of Alberta has instituted a Fire Ban in the forest protection area (FPA), and normally the Town of Slave Lake would follow and institute a ban as well.
As this Provincial fire ban is designed to start the limit the amount of human caused fires in the Fire Protection areas, and currently the Town of Slave Lake hazard is Low, we will still allow back yard fires at time, fires shall be in a fire pit only. We understand that citizens are looking forward to getting into their backyards as the weather cooperates, and we ask that these fires are not used for social gatherings.
Please respect the rules put forth by the Federal and Provincial government’s at this time around social distancing.
As always we will continue to work closely with our partners at Alberta Agriculture and Forestry and if the weather requires us to consider implementing a fire ban, we will make the decision at that time.
