[ARCHIVED] Slave Lake RCMP Weekly Update – February 29th to March 6th, 2020

RCMP News Release (Summer)

Slave Lake, AB – During the week of February 29th – March 6th the Slave Lake RCMP received one hundred and one (101) calls to service.  Of these calls, frauds, assaults, and liquor act occurrences were the most prevalent.  The following are a sample of some of these calls:

 February 29th, 2020 - Impaired Operation

The RCMP received a report that there was a male consuming alcohol in a parked vehicle in town. Members attended the location and conducted an impaired investigation. A mandatory alcohol screening was initiated and the driver blew over the legal limit. At the detachment, it was determined that the male had over twice the legal limit of alcohol in his blood. His vehicle was towed and he is scheduled to appear in court in March.

March 1st, 2020 – Immediate Roadside Sanction

While on patrol at night, the RCMP initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle that did not have its tail lights illuminated. A mandatory alcohol screening was completed which resulted in a reading confirming alcohol in his system. The driver was a GDL driver with conditions to abstain from alcohol consumption. The vehicle was towed and the driver is scheduled to appear in court in April.

March 2nd, 2020 – Uttering Threats

The RCMP received a report of uttering threats to cause death. A statement was obtained and the suspect was arrested. She is scheduled to attend court in March.

March 6th, 2020 - Trafficking in a Forged Document

The RCMP received a report from a financial institution in town that a forged cheque was given to them in an attempt to cash it. The Members attended the location and a female was arrested. The female was also wanted on warrant from a neighbouring detachment. Her fine was paid and she was released on documents to attend court in April.
