Slave Lake, AB – During the week of January 7th – 13th the Slave Lake RCMP received one hundred and five (105) calls to service. Of these calls, break and enters, mischiefs, and driving offences were the most prevalent. The following are a sample of some of these calls:
January 9th, 2020 – Traffic Collision
The RCMP received a report of a two vehicle collision on highway 2 east of town. Members attended and after conducting an investigation, observed that the pick up truck lost control and collided with a semi-tractor trailer. Both drivers were without injury. The driver of the pick up truck was charged under the Traffic Safety Act.
January 10th, 2020 - Mischief
The RCMP received a report of a male and female loitering in the stairwell of the Thompson Landing apartment building. Members attended and found both suspects. The male and female were wanted on warrants and subsequently arrested. The female suspect was remanded into custody pending bail and the male was released on documents to attend court.
January 11th, 2020 - Driving While Disqualified
While on patrol, the RCMP initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle with a driver suspected of being suspended. The driver was suspended due to a past criminal occurrence, and was subsequently arrested and charged with multiple offences including possession of property obtained by crime, possession of a controlled substance, forgery and multiple provincial traffic offences. The driver is scheduled to appear in court February 26th, 2020.
January 12th, 2020 - Suspended Driver
While on patrol, the RCMP observed a vehicle with a driver known to police as a suspended driver. A traffic stop was initiated and the driver was in a vehicle with no insurance, registration, and licence plate that was not matching its registry. Several violation tickets were issued and the vehicle was towed for 30 days. The driver is scheduled to appear in court February 26th, 2020.
