Slave Lake, Alta. - The Slave Lake RCMP thank all of the citizens who locked their vehicles over the past week. Between January 7 and January 13, members of the Slave Lake RCMP conducted a "Lock it of Lose it" campaign scanning parked vehicles to identity vehicles that are unlocked, left running and unattended or contain valuables within view. Officers patrolled busy parking lots and residential streets distributing crime prevention tips.
Overall the results were encouraging but there is always room for improvement.
- 587 total vehicles checked
- 20 vehicles were left unlocked
- 50 vehicles were found to have valuables in plain view
- 15 vehicles were left running (although most appeared to be controlled with a command start).
