Slave Lake RCMP investigate a suspicious fire
Slave Lake, AB - Shortly before midnight on July 1, RCMP and emergency crews were dispatched to a structure fire at the former Highway Motor Inn on Highway 2. Upon arrival, a large section of the north side of the building was involved in flames.
Preliminary investigation has determined that the fire was human-caused and suspicious in nature. At the time of the fire the hotel was abandoned; however, evidence suggests unknown people had been squatting in the building.
No one was inside the building at the time of the fire.
