RCMP arrest alleged impaired driver operating a gravel truck
Slave Lake, AB - On June 19, 2018 at 11:30am, the Slave Lake RCMP received a complaint of an erratic driving semi tractor trailer hauling gravel on Highway 88. Members patrolled the highway and located the suspect vehicle; initiating a traffic stop. The driver displayed signs of being under the influence of alcohol and was transported to the RCMP Detachment for further testing.
Breath tests revealed a blood alcohol concentration nearly three and a half times the legal limit.
"Impaired driving is incredibly dangerous. What makes this occurrence especially concerning is the type of vehicle being operated. This was a very dangerous situation that, thankfully, came to a safe conclusion", S//Sgt John Spaans.
Charges of impaired operation of a motor vehicle are pending against the 46 year old male driver.
