[ARCHIVED] Slave Lake RCMP investigate incident involving a train

Slave Lake RCMP investigate incident involving a train

Slave Lake, Alberta - On June 7, 2018 at 12:19 A.M. Slave Lake RCMP and emergency services received a report of a person possibly being hit by a train.  It was reported that an individual was walking on the tracks and would not move as the train approached.  After an exhaustive search it was determined that no one had been struck and that the individual had jumped out of the way of the train moments before being struck.

The 24 year old female who had been walking on the tracks was not injured.  She has been charged with Entering Land Without Permission under the Provincial Petty Trespass Act.  This offence carries a $287 fine.

The railway crossing on 7th Street SE was blocked for approximately two hours while crews attempted to locate the female.  Given the time of day, local residents were not affected.
