PUBLIC HEARING

June 6, 2023 @ 7:00 P.M. IN TOWN COUNCIL CHAMBERS

BYLAW #09-2023 (Amend the Land Use Bylaw #22-2007)

 

Town Council is giving consideration to amending Land Use Bylaw #22-2007.

 

Amending Bylaw #09-2023 proposes amendments to Sections 3, by adding a definition for Industrial Laundry and Industrial Support, and amending the definition for Laundromat and Dry Cleaning Establishment; and amending sections 100 (2), 101 (2), 103 (2) , 104 (2) and 104A (2) by adding Industrial Laundry and Industrial Support as permitted uses in M1 - Light Industrial District, M2 - General Industrial District, M3A - Special Airport Industrial District, M4 - Small Holdings Industrial District, and BI - Business Industrial District.

 

"INDUSTRIAL LAUNDRY” means a development that provides cleaning services for the washing of clothing (i.e., work apparel such as coveralls, gloves, etc.), cloth, or other fabrics (i.e., commercial, industrial, or institutional bedding, etc.), carpet and rugs used in industrial, commercial, and institutional operations and does not include the cleaning of personal clothing or household goods. “Laundromat or Dry-Cleaning Establishment” is a separate use.

 

“LAUNDROMAT OR DRY-CLEANING ESTABLISHMENT” means a use for the laundering or cleaning of personal clothing, and household goods such as draperies, and is a service provided to the general public on a pay per use basis. “INDUSTRIAL LAUNDRY” is a separate use.

 

“INDUSTRIAL SUPPORT “means a development that provides cleaning, servicing, repairing, or testing of materials, goods, and equipment normally associated with industrial or commercial businesses or natural resource industries and may include the storage and shipping of such materials, goods and equipment, including petroleum chemical products and supplies. This definition applies to oil and gas and forestry support operations and includes, but is not limited to, seismic and servicing, well servicing, oilfield haulers, pipeline contractors and welding operations.

 

If you or any group of citizens either support or are opposed to this proposed amendment, please deliver a letter to the Town Office no later than May 30, 2023, or verbally make a presentation at the Public Hearing on Tuesday, June 6, 2023.
