With the ongoing mental stress of the pandemic, the AHS-Addiction and Mental Health division in Slave Lake would like to provide people with some information about mental health and coping skills/tools to help during this difficult time. They are currently offering a couple of different series of workshops via Zoom for people to attend. These presentations are geared towards an adult audience.
From April 15-May 13, they will be facilitating the AHS-Addiction and Mental Health Information series. This is a series of 5, 2-hour workshops on different mental health and addiction topics, including: anxiety, depression, maintaining healthy relationships, managing difficult emotions, and understanding the nature of addictions. This series will run on Thursday evenings from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
The second series is a program called Wellness Exchange. This is another series of 5 workshops, and are 1 hour each. The topics include: problem solving, positive activities, managing reactions, helpful thinking, and healthy connections. This series will run on Thursdays, from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., starting on May 6th.
For either of these series, people can attend individual workshops, or attend the entire series. There is no cost to attend. Zoom invites will be sent on the Monday before each presentation, along with the handouts for that presentation.
In addition, there are a variety of workshops that can be made available to groups on request, including Emergency Preparedness, Psychological First Aid for Pandemic, Grief and Loss, etc. If there is a topic that you would like a presentation on, please contact their office.
