New Enforcement Measures copy

Alberta Justice Minister and Solicitor General Kaycee Madu has temporarily authorized 700 provincial peace officers to enforce new COVID-19 restrictions.

At a Press Conference on Friday November 27th, Minister Madu announced that it was granting certain Alberta Peace Officers and community peace officers temporary authority to enforce new public health orders.

Madu also announced that not following the new mandatory restrictions could result in fines of $1,000 per ticketed offence and up to $100,000 through the court system.

Effective November 30th, and  Slave Lake Peace Officers will respond to complaints where persons are actively breaching the public health orders and this will be through means of public complaints only.

Peace Officers will not be out actively looking for such violations due to its limited resources however if they come across situations that require intervention than enforcement action may be taken.
