The Town of Slave Lake has adopted a pesticide use policy which authorizes staff to consider usage of herbicides and/or insecticides under certain conditions. Primarily these applications are used as the most appropriate control for regulated weeds (such as noxious or prohibited noxious weeds) or regulated insects within the Town’s public spaces and parks. All pesticide applications must meet strict guidelines including the Alberta Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act, the Environmental Code of Practice for Pesticides, and must be approved by the Director of Community Services.
All locations approved for pesticide application will also be signed at least 24 hrs prior to and 48 hrs after the application.
The following pesticide applications have been approved:
Date of Application: | Location(s): | Pesticide Used: | Reason for Application: |
August 14, 2020 | Sinclair Ball Diamonds #2 & #3 | Non Selective Herbicide | Desiccation prior to construction |
Please contact the Director of Community Services for any questions or concerns about pesticide usage within the Town’s public spaces and parks at 780.849.8017 or garry@slavelake.ca .
