Slave Lake, AB – During the week of May 10th – 16th the Slave Lake RCMP received seventy nine (79) calls to service. Of these calls, welfare checks, lost property, and municipal bylaw complaints were the most prevalent. The following are a sample of some of these calls:
May 10th, 2020 – 911 Hang Up
The RCMP received a report of a 911 hang up from a business in town. Members contacted the key holder who believed the business was being broken into and requested a drive by. Members patrolled the area and the business was secure.
May 13th, 2020 - Erratic Driving
The RCMP was notified of an erratic driver not allowing the complaint to pass while maintaining a speed below the posted speed limit. The accused was located on highway 88 and a traffic stop was initiated. The driver of the vehicle did not have a drivers licence and a violation ticket was issued. The registered owner attended Slave Lake and the vehicle was released to them.
May 14th, 2020 - Animal Calls
The RCMP received a report of a suspicious carcass located along Flat Top Road. Members attended and confirmed it was a deceased bear.
May 16th, 2020 – Possession of Stolen Property
While conducting patrols, the RCMP initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle with a stolen licence plate. Members conducted an investigation and noted the driver of the vehicle did not have proper insurance or registration. The vehicle was towed, the licence plate was seized and several violation tickets were issued. The driver was compelled to court for August 2020.
