Slave Lake, AB – During the week of April 26th – May 2nd the Slave Lake RCMP received sixty seven (67) calls to service. Of these calls, suspicious people, Liquor Act, and traffic occurrences were the most prevalent. The following are a sample of some of these calls:
April 30th, 2020 - Driving with no Insurance
While on patrol, the RCMP initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle showing expired vehicle registration. Members obtained the drivers documents and noted his insurance was expired. The driver was issued a violating ticket for no insurance and his vehicle was towed.
May 1st, 2020 – Break & Enter
The RCMP received a report that a unit at the Thompson Landing apartment building had been broken into. Members attended and found a male inside the unit. The male was arrested and released on court documents. He is scheduled to appear in court July 2020.
May 1st, 2020 - Breaching Conditions
The RCMP received a report that a male was causing a disturbance at the skate park in town. Members attended and located the male who was on conditions to abstain from consumption of alcohol. He was arrested and taken back to the detachment. He was released when sober and was compelled to court for July 2020.
May 2nd, 2020 – Assault With a Weapon
The RCMP received a report of a male assaulting a female on the street. Members attended but the male was gone upon our arrival. Patrols were made and the male was found. He was arrested and brought to the Hospital due to health concerns. The male was subsequently released on court documents with conditions and is scheduled to appear in court August 2020.
Public health and isolation orders have been issued across the province under the Public Health Act. There is now a reporting tool the community can utilize to report persons not abiding by the orders issued.
