Important Utility Notice
Due to failing water meters in the Town of Slave lake, council passed Bylaw #12-2018 (Schedule F ) at the March 6, 2018 council meeting.
To understand if you meter is working or has failed, check your utility invoice at the top right corner;
If your meter reading and usage details states Actual, your meter is working properly.
If your invoice states system estimate or service estimate you will be moved to the Estimated Average calculation starting March 1, 2018, which will appear on your April invoice.
Accounts with working water meters will continue to have their meters read monthly and billed at the actual consumption rate.
An Estimated Average Consumption for failed water meters will appear on your April invoice. Your April statement will be for the billing period from March 1 to March 31. This rate will be TEMPORARY until your water meter is replaced.
We have a limited supply of meters and are working with the manufacturer to obtain more at no cost to you. Unfortunately many other towns are having the same problem, so it is taking time obtain new meters.
If your water meter has failed, the estimated average is based on historical consumption data going back to March, 2016.
