Notice to Residents - Utility Bills

It has recently been brought to our attention that some of the Town water meters have been indicating zero usage, over the past few bill cycles, while in fact water was being used.

In the event of a no reading, the town estimated the usage based on historical date, or if none was available usage was set at 24m3 as outlined in the Utility Rates Bylaw.

For those residents who have erroneously been billed for no water usage, we are going back a maximum of 5 months (July to November) and are charging 12 m3 per month

Our staff is here to work with customers who need to arrange alternative payment methods for the back months. 

In addition to the incorrect water usage reading, some batteries have died in meters, therefore a proper reading was not able to be taken.

Our Town Staff, along with the water meter manufacturer, is currently working to resolve these maintenance issues at no cost to the customer.

Due to the overwhelming demand on replacement parts in other communities, the water meter company can not supply adequate replacement parts at this time.

We apologize for the inconvenience and continue to try and resolve this while being fair to all residents.
