Town prepares for Municipal Election 2017

SLAVE LAKE, AB – Today the Town of Slave Lake its launching its marketing strategy for the upcoming municipal elections, scheduled for Monday October 16th 2017.
Returning Officer Lisa Russell stated, “Today starts the first unofficial day of election season in the Town of Slave Lake.
“Residents who are thinking about running in the upcoming election are encouraged to visit slavelake.ca and download the Town of Slave Lake Municipal Elections Candidate Guide,” Russell stated. Included in the guide are important forms, key dates during the municipal election, and candidates frequently asked questions.
“Resident thinking about running in the election have until Nomination Day on Monday September 18th, to decided if they will run in the 2017 municipal election,” Russell stated.
The motto for the election is ‘Your Town, Your Vote, Your Voice!’, “We want residents to get involved this election, and we encourage residents vote,” Russell added.
Social Media will play a key part in this election, and this year the Town of Slave Lake has launched a new Town of Slave Lake Facebook Page, called Slave Lake Votes.
Christopher Brown, The Town of Slave Lakes Communications Coordinator, “This will be a one stop shop for residents to keep informed on Facebook, Residents from across Slave Lake can like this page to ensure they are kept updated on all election news.”
Like in years past, candidates for the High Prairie School Division Ward 4, and Living Waters Catholic Schools Division will be able to file their nomination papers on Monday September 18th, in the Town of Slave Lake Council Chambers.
