Dangers of Unstable Water Banks

Waterbank Safety

The Town of Slave Lake and the Lesser Slave Regional Fire Service would like to remind residents of the dangers near streams rivers, ponds, and the lake, as the spring thaw happens.

Slippery, unstable water banks and cold water temperatures can lead to hazardous conditions close to any body of water. This year it is  important to keep family and pets away from the edge of all waterways.

Please stay safe near water and help make this an enjoyable spring.

Warming temperatures and spring rainfall are likely to speed up melting ice. This will lead to higher, faster flowing water and potentially quicker ice break-up in watercourses.

Residents are encouraged to take precautions around all waterways, including the lake.
